Apollo 12 Audio Transcripts

Has anyone read the complete Apollo 12 mission audio transcripts? I have and it's funny as hell, as well as awesome. Anyone who has watched From The Earth to the Moon and loves seeing the history said like that, it's the same but all in text. A giant book with all that information said plain. I've been reading it and it's funny as crap. If you haven't read it, you should.

Oh this is a goldmine!

Apollo 12 is my favorite Apollo mission (in part because of how it was portrayed in From the Earth to the Moon) so this was an excellent read.

So I'm not the only one to think so :D !

Spider and Apollo 12 are my favorite episodes. I love how they humanized the astronauts in the Apollo 12 mission. I feel it allowed for people to relate to astronauts rather than think of them as these nonhuman heroes, like George Washington. Moreover people probably dont know an astronaut if they didn't have their suit on. Even if I showed an average American a picture of Neil Armstrong in training, they wouldn't know it was him!! It's something very important to me.

I love Spider since that episode alongside of KSP was what solidified my love for aerospace engineering.

Pure dialogue - needs some getting used to!

I started reading the first of it. they didn't have things like LED indicators back then. I wonder how many indicator lamps the G forces and vibration combined, cause lamp filaments to break?

Understatement of the century right there.

I've not read the full Apollo-XII log (yet), but I've gone through all of Apollo-X. XII of course started off with a bit more of a bang.

According to the Adobe file I have, 00 00 05 59 , is a timestamp for Richard saying "All we've got's the GDC".

Personally 10 is less interesting than most of the others since its identical to 11, but less. Granted that may be interesting to someone.

00 00 06 54 CMP "- - There were so many lights up there, I couldn't even read them". Couldn't be said better.

Probably a typo on my part there. Pete Conrad was laughing almost from the point when they got the instrumentation back to about half an hour into the flight. The single (Laughter) entry for him in this transcript consolidates about 20 minutes of a maniac.

Apollo X was actually a good read. Too colorful to post many quotes from it though.

Yeah, they were laughing through the entire mission.

Really?? I might have to read it when I finish 12.

I love this. I get the sense that Pete Conrad was a total ham, not least of all because of his first words on the Moon:D

It was also the first mission to the moon to include minor pornography (as a joke :P ). So obviously NASA had humor leading up to this mission.

They had Alan Bean. He was quiet for most of the mission. When he wasn't, he would either pull off an epic win (finding the SCE To Aux switch) or fail incredibly hard (frying the TV camera by pointing it at the sun, leaving rolls of film behind on the moon, getting a concussion after surviving a trip to the moon when a camera fell on his head on splashdown.)
