Game of Thrones

Dimwitted as I am, I had to read rumors and alleged set reports from GoT 6th season.

Jon is alive and fighting the Boltons, his siblings might join him, Sansa and maybe one of his brothers too.

Observations of HBO's schedule seem to imply that the 6th season might not air earlier than 1st May 2016 - rumor has it that HBO is giving GRRM a last chance to finish his sixth book by that - before inevitably having to close the whole storyline in the 7th season on their own anyway.

So what should I do? Wait for the sixth book and try to avoid anything from the show? (How well that worked ...)

Worse: I always wait for the paperback because I got the first three in that form and my "mixed" HP books look funny enough. :P

I watched season 1+2, then read everything that had been written, then watched the rest.

I conclude that the best way to enjoy it is to watch it first, then read it.

Basically, if you read it, you form ideas of how it looks that inevitably the show disagrees with, also there is a lot more detail in the books, so watching first doesn't spoil everything.

And the show diverges a little, in story details and structure, after the first couple of seasons, I feel like this would be more of a disruption if you read it first - "Hey, thats not what happens exactly in the book!" - whereas watching the show first then reading, I feel like you are less likely to think - "Hey, thats not exactly how it happened on the show!" - I think you'd just read it and link it up to the show in your mind.

Personally I feel that the story is more suited to the TV medium, its very visual and striking - I know that books "harness the power of the imagination" and everything, its just the way I feel about this particular story.
