Will 1.0.5 fix Non-procedural fairings?

I'm not really a fan of the procedural fairings, they make it harder than necessary to strut the payload to the fairing, which can make takeoff and the gravity turn more difficult than necessary without building an internal structural support system for the payload that you attach struts to, then jettison after the fairing. However, using a fairing system like the KW Rocketry fairings allows me to strut the cargo to the fairing, as the craft was stable enough once I was in orbit to finish deployment of whatever I'm hauling; however, this isn't an option because 1.0 broke that style of fairing. While each system has it's strengths and it's weaknesses (assuming they both work in KPS), it's really a decision that should be left to the player, as the player knows best with what will (and won't) work for a particular design.

So that leads me to some of the stuff I've read about the 1.0.5 changes, specifically: Will the 1.0.5 changes allow the non-procedural fairings to work as they did in 0.90?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here. There were no stock fairings pre-1.0, and the only fairings since then have been procedural. The KW Rocketry fairings were never broken, as far as I know - I don't use that mod.

^He's asking if 1.05 is going to make it so non-procedural fairings (like those in KW) will work again. They currently don't because they don't properly shield what they're covering.

TC: I don't believe 1.05 will do this. However, an option is to install FAR, which does reenable the capability for these fairings to protect their payloads. While flying in FAR sounds scary, if you're used to post 1.0 aerodynamics, FAR won't be that bad of a leap you'll just have to fine tune how you fly a bit more.

Topic: I doubt it. If a mod doesn't work properly with the base game, it's on the mod-maker to address the issue, not Squad. If anything, the new update will break mod fairings even more.

Similar question to the topic: Is there a way to make clamshell fairings and not the popcorn-style fairings.

Having my fairings explode into thousands of bits is really nerve-racking. I know they despawn after a bit, but I cant help that my crafts which are designed to be as anti kessler-syndrome as possible feel like they are just compounding the problem with their fairings.

1.0 did not do anything to break the type of fairing that you're talking about. They behave as they did in 0.90 and prior: they do nothing. They don't implement the features of the stock game, but nothing has been broken and no previously-available behavior was removed from those fairings during the update to 1.0.
