Part-Upgrade Techs

Hello,

I'm planning to make an overhauled tech-tree once 1.1 releases (maybe I overhaul a few more things...) and I was just wondering if it would be possible to create tech-nodes that upgrade certain parts in some perspective (for example ISP of the Mainsail gets 10% better). Personally I don't think it is possible directly, but maybe it is possible indirectly by replacing the part. Would that be possible?

Example: Tech 1 adds Part A, Tech 2 adds Part B which is an upgraded version of Part A and replaces Part A entirely

If it is possible, how can I do this? :/
