My old boat with a real big amount of intakes got 30m/s and now it gets 13 at most and it takes it ten hours to get there. Please help me boat fans. Am I using the wrong engine? Are there now buoyant parts for 1.0.5 different than 1.0.4. The boats mass is 10 tons.

Boyancy was completely overhauled in 1.0.5. You can use empty fuel tanks as flotation devices now. Water will now produce lift, drag as it should. I guess your intaks just make for a lot of drag.

Yah, water now acts a lot more intuitively. For example, if you can design your boat so that it tips nose-up a bit when underway (like a real boat), it will start to rise up and “skim†over the water, which was never possible before. You can even design a craft with some aero surfaces below the water surface that works as a hydrofoil.

Even without a hydrofoil, though, it’s not hard to build something that will get up to around 100 m/s on the water. I say this as the designer of several unintentional speedboats. (Which sounds better than “my first seaplane attempts that couldn’t quite get out of the water.â€Â)

Just think of KSP water as really thick stock air, and you'll get the idea of what you have to do.
