[Question] Is it legal to share modded original parts from KSP?

Hey guys, so I do some random custom paint jobs on my parts (no idea who inspired me) and I wonder if it would be legal to share them because I obviously use the orignal ones as a starting point. I tried to look for some legal stuff about mods but I can't find anything specific. My happy little launcher example:

edit: What I would like to do is create an own mod folder with the compleete parts so people would not have to overwrite their existing ones and could therefore delete it much easier.

The KSP license prohibits distribution of its assets.

You can, however, use module manager configs to create/modify parts without interfering with their licenses.

There is a mod that can replace textures, it would be more convenient to use it too.

There's this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/138903-Looking-for-old-parts-forgot-to-back-them-up?p=2286472&viewfull=1#post2286472 which doesn't deal with *current* parts. As tetryds said though redistributing unchanged parts is not the best solution.

To be absolutely sure, best ask Squad directly.

This comes up fairly regularly.

The game's models and such can be redistributed in the context of a KSP mod, but as many people pointed out there's really no need to do so in general, and it comes with its own issues. A further note is that if you plan to use any Kerbal-related intellectual property, copyright or trademark for commercial purposes you'd need explicit, prior and written permission from Squad :)
