Biome changes not updating for science components

Recommended Posts

Firstly, inexperienced with posting issues on a forum, so if in the wrong place please forgive me.

The issue: when in flight in kerbin, I can successfully get crew reports over grasslands, in orbit, etc, ie the biome changes are recognized.

When I try to use science equipment ( I only have mystery goo and materials bay atm) despite being over the ocean, which is detected when taking a crew report, is only detected as flying above kerbin for the other science equipment.

I have no mods, have updated to the latest version, verified integrity of cache which got permanently stuck on 1 file missing. Deleted local content and re-downloaded (still 1 file always missing) and same issue persists.

Any ideas ?

There are two things with science stuff, eg crew report and mystery goo and the like, situation and biome. Situation is what sort of 'orbit' the vessel is in, eg landed, flying, low space, high space etc. Biome is what biome the vessel is over. Each science experiment is set to work in each situation either not at all, once, or per biome. Crew reports are set per biome while flying, but once while in space. Mystery goo and materials bay are set once per situation while flying, but per biome while landed. So what you're seeing is totally as expected.

Hi kingOFspace, last I looked the experiments were only biome specific when landed, and there's only a few levels for flying and space when using them, while the crew and eva reports take the biomes into account.

You can see this too in the SienceDefs.cfg in GameData/Squad/Resources, but there's a ton of spoilers in there.

The "missing" file is usually the settings.cfg, as Steam detects it as something it shouldn't overwrite after the player has changed it, the error message is unfortunate though, more info here.
