Do we really need a PSA thread for every minor thing? "PSA don't crash into the ground at 457 m/s" "PSA put fuel in you rockets" "PSA right click opens a ui element" come on.

Wow thank you for those PSAs, they really helped me out!!! I never knew that rockets needed fuel, I'm learning new things about this game every day!!!!1!!

Way back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I didn't know that the brakes could be locked. After having this happen a few times, I would actually retract the landing gear to keep the aircraft from rolling away.

Best,

I still do that, just because I'm too lazy to install ladders on my ships.
I once chased a rover a few miles down a mountain on the Mun, after I released it from the lander without setting the handbrake. It's the kind of thing I shan't forget again!
Putting brakes on before repairing wheels can also be important!
obviously if you fix a wheel on a slope gravity will do it's thing, but the main reason is that if the wheel mounts clip with other parts, when you repair the wheel it can cause phantom forces which propel the rover forwards (and in my experience, around in a large circle). If you can re-board the rover then it sorts the phantom forces out, but you gotta catch it first! With the breaks on, the forces will still make it twitch and move a bit, but you can still easily get back into it.

I had a hilarious incident with a rover I was testing at KSC. After repairing a wheel it started driving off in a large circular path, with Jeb in hot pursuit. After a few futile attempts to catch up with it, I tried to head it off as it came round for another pass. Turns out running in front of an out of control vehicle isn't an effective way of stopping it! The rover just mowed Jeb down and carried on oblivious.
(Found out later that switching to the out of control rover will also sort the phantom forces out, but that's much less fun than trying to chase it down).

So, erm ... I got away with it.

Just flew over to the Island runway and taxied into the hanger nearer to the tower. Rolled slowly out the other side but didn't have enough room to turn around. No reverse on the jets for a three-point turn, so being KSP I got out and pushed, then had to run to get back in. (I think if I'd left it the slope goes up from the runway that side of the island, so I might have been ok anyway). Edited by Pecan

Hearing your story I could not help but hear the Benny Hill theme music.

I see the scene as looking something like this:

Jeb gets out of the plane, stands in a comically exaggerated heroic pose. Puts out a hand and leans on the plane.
The plane rolls away and Jeb falls over. (queue Benny Hill theme).
The plane rolls across scene, left to right, followed by Jeb.
A group of nearby policemen (in classic British bobby helmets) see the plane and Jeb running by, and start running after them.
In the next scene, the plane, followed by Jeb then the police ploughs through a fashion show set up in front of a plane on the tarmac, interrupting the show and scattering models and audience in all directions. The models join the chase.
In the next scene the plane crosses left to right, followed by Jeb, then the Police, the female models (dressed in racey attire, by 60s standards).
In the next scene the place crosses left to right... but nobody in following. Instead the female contestants are running right to left, chased by Jeb and the Police.
Final scene, the plane plunges off the runway into the water. Jeb, stops running, looking comically dejected, but is shortly thereafter mobbed by police and models.

Ahh yes, that's sophisticated British humor for you. Edited by Tourist
