Can the "Skydiver" Submarine SSTO actually be built?

I did try to build a Flying Submarine, with some success. I found that the only way to keep something light enough to fly underwater was to use constant engine power. If you want to launch it from and redock to a submarine base, I'd build a regular seaplane-ssto, but with a docking port on the front. Then, after the flight when I wanted to redock, I would just point the nose straight down towards the base and fine tune the engine power until I could "hover" underwater. Once I'd stopped moving, so long as I could keep the nose straight down, I'd just use RCS to dock with my base.

So yes, I suppose that it could be done.

Of course mention has been made of the UFO series and also flying submarines, but this would be fun to see in KSP:

Of course that was a simulation (imagine that, kind of like KSP). Here is a poor recording in B&W (the series was in color) including Flying Sub as seen in the "Voyage ... " series:

Maybe there will be a mod for this? (Nudge nudge)
hey now.... I wasn't trying to suggest 1999 was good...
I just wanted to show the Eagle Lander.
I think it's one of the more realistic ships of the time
