ALT TAB has a pretty high chance of crashing KSP

ill click alt tab, then go back into the game but its stopped responding by then, the only way to close it at that point is to end the process.

This is a pretty standard bug feature of full-screen games in general. The only game I can successfully alt-tab out of is World of Tanks, everything else crashes more often than not.

cardgame\'s right, most Windows games don\'t like to be alt-tabbed when they are full-screen, if you find you need to alt-tab a lot you could run KSP in a window that fits your screen snugly, if you need an odd resolution, edit the settings.cfg, KSP can handle just about anything above 1024x768

umm... speaking of, i can never get a windowed mode to 'fit' my screen, even though that is my native, it fits wired, and lowering the resolution isnt for me.

yeah I know what you mean, I have the same issue, that\'s why I suggested editing your settings.cfg You can find it in your KSP folder.

Here are the lines that you\'ll need:

SCREEN_RESOLUTION_WIDTH = 1280

SCREEN_RESOLUTION_HEIGHT = 960

You can set these to values not shown in the in-game presets, and it\'ll work, backup your settings.cfg first if you want, but you can restore it just by deleting the file as well.

I have pretty much no problem \'Alt-Tabbing\' KSP or many other full screen games which I do repeatedly to change music etc, my computer is about 4 years old as well. I often leave it running in the background as well, due to the fact that I have 344 parts to load every time I start it up, which, even though I run it off of an SSD, takes a few minutes.

Oh, loading it is no problem to tab out for me either, but during actual gameplay Windows will crap its pants.

As in without pressing ESC? I imagine it would, I normally press ESC and then ALT-TAB if it\'s during a mission.

If my focus isn\'t going to be 100% KSP, then I will run it windowed mode. Of course I am spoiled to my widescreen monitor which some people may not be up to by now.

I find adding more RAM reduces the chance of hiccups with Alt-Tab\'bing, but it isn\'t a guarantee. For some reason Windows, while it does provide the function, feels it should be burned on the stake for heresy.

Yea it has to be something with high end systems. My machine tabs out of ksp all the time for skype calls and playing d3.
