Well, I've heard that hard career is neigh impossible, so I'm going to try it. Expect this thread to be dead in a week, because I can't stay focused on one project in KSP at all.

Sub-space first manned flight
Booster test fails, SRB test
Lifter-A succeeds, B fails
Testing BACC and parachute & Failed tourist contract & Failed orbit attempt
Successful tourist contract
Suborbital tourist
Killing last two kerbals & funds grabbing & almost orbit

Not impossible, just somewhat unfair and [I]extremely[/I] grindy, especially at the beginning.

Alright:
After two launches to grab launchpad and runway data (-rockets) the first ever manned flight was made it was a total success, landing in the water to get that juicy splashed down EVA report:

I'm playing on custom hard. Expect to do a lot of tests, and haul a lot of tourists into orbit at first. Try to combine them as much as possible into a single launch.
But once the grind is over it's not so bad.

TRAGEDY:
Jeb died testing a new lifter. It reentered to fast and the parachutes would have just burned off if they were deployed. Then I tested two SRBs on the pad.

Hmm. LOCV. Again.
First we see a successful test of the lifter-A. then the fatal test of the lifter-B, this time it was Val, same problem as the last time (shallow reentry), but since it got to space, my rep still isn't below 0.

Alright! Now with 100% less noobish mistakes!
I took advantage of free BACCs to go with my test article to lift one to altitude. Then I used a LF/O engine to control speed and tested a radial parachute:

I got a tourist contract, but I didn't get into space:

I was determined to get into space and land safely this time. After launch, the rocket started to uncontrollably tip over. Luckily, the pilot showed bravery and skill by utilizing explosive decoupling to stage away the still burning SRB. The flight was far slow, however a contract for a radial parachute was completed.

Got a tourist into space, and survived.

Launched another tourist, plus a science jr.

Ooof.

I launched a plane to do a survey, but it crashed after the first survey, killing another kerbal. Then I accepted another tourist contract, and completed 1/2 of it:

Then I started the next mission to complete the tourist contract, but it failed, killing my last kerbal. Interestingly, I didn't get a game over screen, so then I got enough funds to hire another kerbal with the bail-out grant strategy plus the advance on a couple of contacts. Then I got a contract for the terrier so I could use it in my orbital rocket.
