KSP more stable since 1.05 upgrades

I have noticed that I am crashing and Krakening a lot less since I installed the 1.05 updates, but I made three other changes at the same time:

1.  I did not re-install Final Frontier;

2.  I did not re-install Kopernicus;

3.  I did not re-install Outer Planets Mod.

Of those, I highly doubt Final Frontier was causing my problems, but I am suspicious of Kopernicus/OPM; my hypothesis is that together they used up more available memory than my poor little computer could afford on top of KSP's regular demands.  I have to say that I'm happy with (much) fewer crashes, but I do miss the larger Kerbolar system.

I may test the hypothesis by reinstalling the updated Kopernicus and OPM, but I'm reluctant to "tool with a groove"...
