Instellar style fuel switch without interstellar?

Hi everyone,

is there a way to install a fuel switch, like you have in interstellar, but without installing the interstellar mod? (I dont like all the future sci-fi like engines).

I installed 'Interstellar fuel switch' but nothing changes, I guess it wont work unless you install interstellar aswell.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

You need to differentiate the mod itself, which provides the capability, and the actual implementation. By installing Interstellar Fuel Switch, you have gained the capability to mod your tanks to be switchable; however, you have not gained switchable tanks. You need to provide (or write yourself) a config file that defines each switchable state for each tank that you want affected.

Stock Fuel Switch, as linked by Malah above, doesn't need you to configure anything. But it will only do what it says on the tin: change stock fuel tanks, and for LF and oxidizer only.

Thanks for the replies!

There is no mod, or something that provides a config file, with which I can gain switchable tanks? Both in setup and size?

When I installed interstellar, I had the adjustable options availeble for all tanks, interstaller, stock and KW, so that mod provides the config file too I assume, any place to get this?

thanks again!

Size: TweakScale - recommended by KSPI and probably installed at the same time.
Content type: InterstellarFuelSwitch or FSFuelSwitch (used by StockFuelSwitch) + a MM patch to add it to all tanks.

If you install StockFuelSwitch, you get switching on all tanks that contain LF/OX via its MM patch.

You assume correctly. Look in the Interstellar download for a ModuleManager patch that adds the InterstellarFuelSwitch module to tanks, write your own, use StockFuelSwitch, or grab/adapt the appropriate patch from this set.

There's several Mods which extend the range of possible tanks. including the use of Interstellar Fuel Switch.

I use Fuel Tanks Plus.

There's a bit more than fuel tanks in it, and as well as fuel choices there are alternative colour schemes. The guy has an excellent range of Mods, and I think it's worth checking on his whole range. One of the things I find useful are monopropellant radial OMS pods. So you can make a lander with a larger tank (fuel switching), or maybe an orbital tug, rather than depending on fuel-oxidizer combinations. It might be a bit excessive to have that huge orange Rockomax tank full of monopropellant... On the other hand, the stock monopropellant tanks are a bit small for some uses.
