Sub Orbital flight contract?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

This is prob a stupid question but whats the definition for sending a tourist on a sub orbital flight?

I just started playing 1.0.5 recently and accepted a contract to send some tourists on a sub orbital flight, thought I did but contract isn't complete?

Thanks in advance!

"Sub-orbital on celestial body X" means the following:

  1. You're not landed or splashed down
  2. Your trajectory intersects X (i.e. your periapsis is underground)
  3. You are not on an escape trajectory
  4. You are not in X's atmosphere, if it has one

So for example, if the tourist contract is for suborbital on Kerbin, it just means sending them up on a flight whose peak altitude is above the limit of Kerbin's atmosphere (70 km), without actually going into orbit.

If you thought you did, but didn't, all I can think of is maybe your flight didn't go quite high enough to get out of the atmosphere?  (Also, just as a sanity check, you had the right body, right?  i.e. it's not something silly, like the contract was for "suborbital on Mun" but you did Kerbin instead?)

Sending a tourist on a suborbital flight is to fly over 70 km and come back. It's not necessary to orbit kerbin. Check that the proper tourist is in the vessel you send. Well. This is for a Kerbin suborbital flight.

If you have to do a subobital flight on Mun, for example, you must direct your vessel to the ground. It's not necessary finish on the ground. When you are in a suborbital trajectory you can go up again, the contract must be done.
