KSP turns into a complete lagfest after 5-20 minutes of play

Hey all,

I am running out of ideas here. Hadn't played in a while and I decided to start up KSP again. I happily played for 5 minutes first time around.. boom uncontrollable lagfest out of nowhere. I restart KSP and it starts laggy. After restarting the PC 15 minutes of happy space time, and back to lagging. Restarted my laptop and reinstalled a vanilla version of KSP and again the same problem. The only thing I can think of that changed with my system since the last time I played is the latest Nvidia Gforce driver. I have tried pretty much everything. There's enough RAM left, my CPU isn't running at 100% either. I am lost. Anybody an idea?

The change to the graphics driver is an obvious suspect, you may want to check that.

Fine for a bit then lagging suggests a thermal issue, monitor your temperatures as you play.

OK, so I managed to pinpoint it down to a process called Microsoft (c) Windows (c) Operating System. It eats about 15% of my CPU, and the moment I switch it off things are good. Malware maybe?

Not heard of that one, but it's possible, some malware that isn't sophisticated enough to hide itself completely can just pretend to be a legit program.

Better do a full scan just in case it's persistent or has friends, malwarebytes is probably your best bet for removing stuff like that.

And with a name like that it's pretty impossible to Google as well. I only found one mention in a forum somewhere. I'll scan my pc when I get back home. Left KSP running to see if it would pop up again. I'll let you know if I find something.

Definitely sounds dodgy, I've never seen a process named that before. Windows's own processes usually have slightly more descriptive names.
