OpenGL problems

Recommended Posts

I have found problems with OpenGL. Can you please find a solution?

1.During the game loading I see a black square blocking 1/4 of the screen.

2.After a few seconds the screen goes black.

3.when the game has started sometimes I see the starting Menu in 1/4 of the screen other part of the screen I see black.

4.If I click on settings or credits I see black screen once again.

5.Part texture quality dropping in the VAB and SPH.

6.Minor graphics glitches.

7.OpenGL can do some strange things for example in RSS I could not see upper part of most Atlas fuel tanks.

I have found this happens in 0.90,1.0.0,1.0.2,1.0.3,1.0.4 and 1.0.5(only some of  problems not all in 1.0.5 but still.)

PC Specs

processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4005U 1.70GHz

64x OS

RAM 4GB

Model :Dell inspiron 15 3000 series.

Windows 8.1

Try informing all ksp forum users:if having problems with the game not only tell pc specs also tell model because in the model they make tweaks to the original or use different computer parts.

Sorry but there really isn't anything Squad can do about OpenGL, it's a Unity3D engine command and the Unity engine supports D3d9 on Windows, not OpenGL.

It's there along with D3d11 if you want to take your chances but even Unity doesn't provide support for it, if it doesn't work try updating your drivers or a different resolution.

Or just don't use it.

What do I have to do with that Unity link do I have to copy it and paste it somewhere?

I rarely find pop ups for updating Nvidia driver.

Also I sometimes I find OpenGL itself is crashing.

If you click the link it will take you to the Unity manual for the engines command line arguments, -force-opengl is a Unity command line argument, it is not made by Squad.

For Nvidia drivers click this link.

On that page you can put in what card you have and it will tell you what the latest driver is, or you can make it detect your card and driver.

If your driver is old, you can download the newest one and run it to install it, then restart the computer after it finishes installing.

It may not help but it's still a good idea to keep up to date.

Also, you might want to try -force-d3d11 instead, it will help reduce ram use just like -force-opengl does, there will be graphics glitches though.
