New Station contract does not accept station launched after contract was accepted

Recommended Posts

I accepted a contract to build a new Space Station in Mun orbit. Then I launched the first part of the station into Mun orbit. When I had the station in position in the contract overview at the top right the tick for new station was green. After docking the second part to it with some more fuel I did not check this. After docking the third part with even more fuel (4000 units is required) the tick was not set anymore (the second and third part were launched after the first part obviously). I had to load a quicksave while docking the second part to the station if this might have something to do with it. Since then I can't finish the contract (I actually tried with a small craft having enough fuel to fulfill the requirements, an antenna and solar panels. That craft fulfilled the contract requirements again until it docked to the station).

I'm absolutely not sure whether I did something wrong or if I encountered a (rare?) bug. I also looked through the save file and checked launchId values after reading somewhere that this is how the novelty of a station is determined. The contract has a launchId value of 30, and the lowest launchId value of any part of my station is also 30, so this shouldn't be the problem. To verify I made a copy of the save, changed the launchId in the contract to 29 and loaded that. I then went to the tracking station and jumped to my station. The tick was still not there.

Except to disassembling the whole thing and replacing one or more parts of the station which is financially unattractive I am out of ideas. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with this station?

The save file can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k2mj978vhh8mje7/broken-space-station.sfs?dl=0

I can! (finally....)

So first I forgot to rename your persistent file to "persistent" and couldn't get the save to work.  As a point of interest someone like....erm....I don't know, summon @Claw (who can put me back in my box again :)) viewing this I discovered that if you have an invalid save file the game warns you with an option to "delete" or "not now".  If you select "not now" it simply opens a grey screen and won't let you do anything until you force quit.  Might be worth making the "not now" option revert to main menu, or display the games with a big red X through the ones you can't play or something.

Second I hyper-edited a Kerbal up to your ship to test a theory as I couldn't get the antennas to open.  I thought it might be this but no.

Then I hyper-edited a capsule to the same point as the last one and it appeared inside the other one and didn't end well.

Finally I noticed that you had not fulfilled the mission brief "Have 4000 units of liquid fuel in your station".  You had over 4000 units of fuel easily overall, but the mission required Liquid fuel (of which you had 3600) so I Hyper-edited an extra tank up there with the required liquid fuel outstanding and rendezvoused/docked with the station, and hey presto the contract completed!

Also Claw - The antenna requirement only completed when the liquid fuel requirement completed despite the antenna already being present.  Might be worth Squad changing that in a future update so if something is present it definitely turns to complete so players can work the problems easier.

Hi Speeding Mullet,

thanks for taking the time to investigate! I know that there are about 400 units of liquid fuel missing, I had brought them up once but the contract didn't complete because of the new station requirement and I reverted the flight. Sorry for not mentioning that before. I am surprised that when you loaded the save you had no problem with the new station requirement.

I just flew there again with enough fuel and the contract didn't complete again.

As you can see on the image I also opened up the antennas if this is required.

I uploaded the save game at the time the screenshot was taken again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqau0bo8h2zk6ze/broken-space-station2.sfs?dl=0

The installation is completely unmodded so mods can't be my problem. My game version is 1.0.5 build 1028 on Linux x86_64.

Thanks again for your help!

Ok, whatever difference that makes, I just left the space station and went back to space center and came back to the flight and the contract completed after 10 seconds of maintaining stability. Something was definitely weird here but at least I got to finish my contract. Thanks again for your time!
