What is the most number of Asteroids that anyone has linked together?

 

I've never even tried two, but I was thinking of going for four in a tetrahedron (for stability's sake) out of Class A asteroids, but was curious if anyone else has tried something like this and might have some advice?  I play in stock, so i would be using grabbbers, but if you've done it with KAS i'd love to hear about your experience too.

Have never really made a big asteroid cluster... was something I was planning on doing when the "asteroid redirect" patch came out, and was all excited about the grabber.  However, the grabber was so disappointingly buggy and kraken-prone that I had to give up on it in frustration after about the dozenth save-corrupting crash in a row, and now I never, ever under any circumstances use the grabber for anything.  It means I don't get to play with asteroids, which is a major bummer ...but the sheer frustration of game crashes is just not worth it for me.  YMMV.

Looking forward to eventually playing with it, if-and-when Squad ever has the time to really fix the grabber.

It may have been fixed since, but I know I was watching a video once of someone that tethered around 3 together and the Kraken didn't like that once bit.

I've seen people doing asteroid chain before. If you search the forum it should not be that hard to find.

However, as Snark said, the grabber is extremely bugged... I have a low tolerance to frustrating bug so I rarely use it for anything. Expect game-crash, near-to-lightspeed instant acceleration, physic-breaking sudden stop-to-zero and orbit corruption occuring to any distant ship loaded (not just the one with the grabber). I've seen ALL THOSE myself while playing with single asteroids. I've never had the badluck of having a save file corruption, but it once removed all the active contracts I had in the career (not that bad but...).

The MOST important advice is: do NOT "push" a ship on the grabber. Meant you HAVE to be in control of the ship with the grabber when grabbing something... colliding a ship with a grabber has 100% chance of crashing the universe.

I am currently doing a YouTube series right now were I am capturing every class of asteroid. Right now the YouTube series is up to class C and I have yet to upload the class D footage. But I hope to conclude the series by linking all of the asteroids together in a chain. But I have yet to try this so I can't promise anything. I don't see a problem with the class A and B but the upper classes will take work to dock. Wish me luck.
