I'm sure others have done really silly things with asteroids. I mean, Hazard-ish is years ahead of me in this field. Share your stories and failures!

I really haven't done much with asteroids.... Captured a few, tried to capture a large Class-E back when they were first introduced, but only managed to spin it right round....

Probably my biggest success was when I sent an impacter up to collide with another Class-E while the asteroid was still thirty days or so from Kerbin's SOI. This Monster asteroid was scheduled to impact Kerbin but was too large for me to move at my tech level, especially once it was in Kerbin's gravity well. So the only option was a kinetic impactor. It took several reloads from quicksave before I had a run where they actually impacted (often they just phased through each other due to the extreme relative velocity), but once they finally connected I was surprised to learn it worked!

  

The glancing blow was enough to shift the asteroid from an impact into a 120km near-miss. I later sent a tug up to flail helplessly against its sides.

I managed to wrangle two class-Ds into not just an equatorial orbit (@ 500 km, IIRC), but the same equatorial orbit, and tried to attach them.

Alas, I underestimated the capability of KAS harpoons and/or struts to securely and/or rigidly link two massive bodies together.  They're still connected, but wobble massively around each other whenever I focus and load physics.  I might have had more luck with fuel pipes, but by then I'd abandoned the project.

Any and all innuendo regarding "the Twins" will be politely ignored.
