Can't complete task

I have a task to transmit or recover scientific data from space around kerbin.
I transmitted the science data from my space station but the task is still there, unfinished???

Did you transmit the data from the lab perchance? The contracts require raw data rather than processed, a quick crew report will do the job even if it has no science value. Strange but true.

+1 to this.  I'm in the habit of always putting a thermometer on all my satellites in case a "recover science from space over ____" comes up. Even if you've already done the experiment before and the new result has no science value, it will still complete the contract. It's good for really quick cash, just accept the contract, go to tracking station, switch to relevant satellite, log temperature date, transmit it, contract complete.

I did actually, yes

Don't worry about that, I took a lab out filled it with 500 processed science and returned it to Kerbin. Not realising I was supposed to transmit the data.......

Bummer.  Well, at least they're fixing that in 1.1 (recovering a lab with science in it credits you with the science).
