mechjeb 2 auto docking problem

I have problems with the autodock funcion in mecjeb 2. The auto dock window says: choose a target to dock with. But when i choose a target it changes nothing. I right click on a docking port and click set as target the nav ball indicates that the target is selected. But the docking autopilot docking windows does not react. Please help im so mad!!

Have you selected docking port on your main vehicle as controlling part? It's a three-step process.

1) Chose your DP as controlling part.

2) Chose another vehicle DP as target

3) Press button

As Dr Jet said, but with these added bits

1. switch to the other vessel, and right click the target docking port

2. switch back to the other vessel and the window should still be open on the target vessel, select set as target

3. Control from the port that you want to dock to.

if both vessels can be rotated without wobble do control from here, face the target on both vessels, then turn on kill rot with both and dock at a much faster rate.
