The Glidey-Missile Challenge

I'm not sure if anyone is going to want to try this but the idea is you build a glider, attach it to a "launcher trolley" that gets you up to speed along the runway, you decouple from the trolley at or before the end of the KSC runway, and you see how far you can glide/fall with style before you hit the water. This challenge therefore asks for:

  • Good Trolley design in terms of power, stability and smoothness of glider decoupling
  • Good glider design in terms of lift vs drag
  • Good flying skills in terms of altitude vs speed

Rules

  • I don't know enough about mods to say what mods would be allowed. No autopilot! No non-stock parts! No mods that make flying easier either by changing the atmosphere or making planes easier to control!
  • The glider cannot have any form of propulsion, including Kerbal power if that would even work.
  • The trolley must not leave the ground before decoupling
  • Trolley can have multiple stages
  • Glider can only be one stage (i.e no shedding weight as you glide or having low drag wings that you drop when the speed gets lower)
  • Challenge is over when you land in the sea
  • Screenshots, GIFs or Video needed including a shot of your trolley + glider. HUD must be on!
  • Launcher can be as big or small as you want.
  • Glider must be include at least three parts (no catapults!) but otherwise it can be however big or small or wing-y or wing-less as you want it to be.
  • No glitchy cheating (not sure if you can still do that infi-glide thing by having SAS on?) or other going against the spirit of what I'm trying to achieve otherwise you're a spoil sport.

I guess there is a limit to the amount you can put into a spoiler?

 

If anyone wants a go can you beat 32km?

Ooh, this sounds like fun.  Although you've got to be careful trusting the F3 screen for distance, since it adds the rotation of the planet (a few hundred m/s).  Better to leave something back at KSC, so you can select it as a target and see the distance.

Here's my entry. 127 km. I forgot to leave something at the runway to measure actual distance without rotation, though.

Almost 7 minutes even with 4x speed most of the time.
