Changing Space Station orbit with save file - Help

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I launched my Space Station and finally built it fully. It took 4 launches and over all it was a succecfull mission.

The problem is that I forgot that I wanted the orbit to be polar, and now I have no way of changing the orbit without bringing the station on the ground.

I would be happy if some one could help me with the parameters of the save file. Thank you. Only thing I need to change is the direction of the orbit.

Thank you very much!

Editing the persistance file is black magic. You might be better off using hyperedit.

But, INC is the value you want to play with.

But for bonus points you could build a tug a pull it into the right orbit.

set inc to be 90.

Alternatively, boost the Apoapsis way out, and perform a plane change at apoapsis, then aerobrake the AP down again, and reaise PE out of the atmosphere.

or do a Munar gravity assist.

Its quite a bit easier to put things in equatorial orbit vs polar orbit. You need roughly 200 m/s more, and the timing of the launches is more difficult
