FLT200 Distance

Methinks that depends on the distance being traveled. If someone managed circumnavigation with a rocket, could they do it with a jet?

I've got a craft that nearly reached orbit. Horizontal speed >2000 m/s at 40000m.

Hmmm.. come to think of it, maybe I will use jets, just probably not how you're thinking.

Alright! It would've been able to reach Eve if I had aimed for it. Kerbol Periapsis is 7,302,000,000 meters.

 

It actually didn't start with a full tank of LFO. I removed 29.29 Oxidizer.

jet is fine thats how i did it i got 800km

In which case...

I haven't figured out yet how to work out accurately how far I got from my marker flag on Gilly but the max separation was my craft's Sun Ap + Gilly's Sun Ap = ~68Gm.

I'm flying my best attempt now. It uses mods, BDB and SXT

One engine, grand total of 11kN thrust

Oh i didn't understand

I got 1073km from the KSC. Launched with no LO and a single Juno for thrust with Jeb on top in a command seat

Made it about 1/4 of the way around Kerbin heading west ... Flight time was about 2 hours and 45 minutes

With a little bit more fuel I could have made it to the Pyramids although I think I could have made it to them if I didn't have to contend with the mountains immediately after launch

I'll post pics when I get the chance
