Nope, not a mod.  The one that you're calling the "new" cockpit is actually the old one.  ;)  The one that you have is the new one.

That's what the Mk1 cockpit used to look like.  A while back (I think it was in 1.0), they replaced it with a new/updated model that looks like the one you have now.  If you're seeing pictures of the other one, they're presumably older pictures from before the change.

(Though I think some folks who were fond of the old cockpit have preserved it in a mod somewhere, so if you like the old one better, I bet you could find the mod for that if you do enough digging.)

found it by just searching "mk1 cockpit" on SpaceDock.

nice, but only the cockpit is really interesting you know. but isnt there a antimatter engine + parts

and my stock game also doesnt have a science lab and parts for a spacestation. if i watch you tube vids, there are a lot more parts. are there more, or has  1.05 less parts?

There are plenty of mods for that kind of stuff, such as Near Future Interstellar and the like.  Lots of mods out there, you can browse around on SpaceDock or CurseForge for the mods you like.

Certainly there's a science lab in the stock game. Are you playing a career game?  If so, you only start out with a very small number of parts available, and can unlock more parts by researching technologies in the R&D facility, which requires science points from experiments you do.

The science lab is located on the "Science" tab in the VAB / SPH.

Well, then, you have a science lab.  It's on the "Science" tab of the VAB / SPH.

If you can't find it, can you post a screenshot from the VAB, showing the place where you're looking and not seeing it?

The only parts you really need for a space station are docking ports.

There is a single "hub" part, which is mostly useful because it cuts down on the number of parts needed to create a small hub (which you could create yourself using four small tanks (FL-T100) mounted radially and then turned outwards, on a longer (FL-T400) fuel tank, so the hub replaces 5 separate parts).

Whatever you use, though, you need to add docking ports to attach bits of space station.

I tend to add docking ports to everything, to make impromptu "space stations" whenever I have more than one ship in the same orbit. This is my entangled mess currently around Moho:

Also, if you have problems finding parts, click on the "advanced" button at the far top left of the screen in the VAB. You can then search for parts by size/cross-section, which can help.

The space station hub, incidentally, is located among the "structural" parts, while the docking ports are in the "utility" section.
