Strengthen the large landing gear

Recommended Posts

I'd suggest to add to strengthen the large landing gear as I can't landing at a vertical velocity of 4-9m/s as it literally tears the (space)plane up and there is no way of recovering the crew without quicksaving from a far distant point in time.

I pretty sure it is not the wheels that are causing the problem.  When you land that hard the joints on the parts connecting the parts with the wheels on them together break, the wheels almost certainly un-damaged.  Also, 4-9m/s is not a safe vertical landing speed.

That is 9-20mph.

About average running speed :0.0:

When I'm desperate, I hard-land. No matter if the tyres, brakes or the entire gear brakes, I hard-land it whilst delivering the test subjects passengers to their destination. :D

Have you tried simply using more landing gears?

The weight will be distributed among them evenly and they won't break.

Struts to make the plane stiffer wouldn't hurt either.

I can't see adding more large landing gear would do it, especially when it's on the wings.

A picture of the plane would help.

I've made some pretty monstrous planes, like 300+ parts big. They've always required groups of landing gear bunched together in my experience. Lots and lots of struts as well.

Best of luck!

All credit goes to GoldForest to making the craft, as this isn't mine. But here it is:

Note that I landed this at 80m/s with a vertical of 4/5m/s so the craft nearly cracked into pieces.

Looks pretty darn heavy for the landing gear setup being used in my opinion.

Where did you download it? Maybe I'll give it landing it a try.

Oh, I found this when I was bringing a module to a community space station so I asked them about it and it said you can do experiments on the shuttle. I may have to ask him/her/it whether the shuttle can be 'shipped' to your 'Lab'.
