Alt function doesn't work

I have a problem in that for some reason, the game doesn't register my use of the "Alt" key, neither for bringing up the Debug menu or to duplicate parts in the editor. I have checked, and the key works fine on my other pc or when I'm out of the game.  

The functions of that key don't seem to be listed in the rebind section of the options menu, so I don't know how to rebind it.  

I'm running the linux version on SteamOS.  

 

Please let me know what to do here

Does your keyboard have an "Fn" key?

If it does you may have to use Fn+Alt+F12.

I've heard others complaining about this, but haven't experienced it myself despite having an Fn key.

no I don't think it does.

Only thing about the keyboard itself is that it's a danish keyboard, but that shouldn't affect the alt key

that's an old keyboard. maybe that's why. replace your keboard from a new one. and if you wantto enable the debug window type fn+alt+f12.

Alt becomes right-shift on the GNU/Linux build, as alt combos are often used by the window manager.

There's no menu for it, but you can rebind if needed by editing the settings file.

Is there then no button on the linux version that does the "duplicate part(s)" thing in the editor then?

right-shift takes over alt, left shift as usual.
I don't immediately recall which key is duplicate in the editor (as I haven't played in a while), but it certainly worked for me a month or 2 ago (Debian 8) - I'm pretty sure it's right-shift...

Yeah, that's real helpful. Maybe the OP should replace the entire computer too?
Perhaps a different coloured chair would help?

Do you see an 'fn' key on the keyboard in that picture? no? Neither do I.

SteamOS is a Ubuntu derivat. You should check your Keyboard Settings and Button binding there.

In KSP Options i had to delete the binding to F12 (show temp gauges).

Now ALT = right Shift (on my G15 blue)
