Steam Controller Problems

I have a steam controller and am attempting to use it with KSP. When I load up KSP and flip through different screens it correctly tells me that the configuration for the steam controller is being set (using Squad's configuration). However, none of the bindings actually work; none of the buttons actually do anything. Has anyone had a similar problem/is there a solution out there?
