Electric Boat Propellers?

All the time, I see boat propellers powered by L/Ox. Those propellers might be powerful, but they are inefficient and one cannot possibly do long-range missions with them. I need boat propellers powered by electric charge, so that I can constantly power them with solar panels or RTGs. I saw InfiniteDice's r4 boat parts pack do that, but of course that mod is still not updated.

Out of the hundreds of mods here, is there a single one that has electric boat propellers?

A real propeller is part of my mod WW2 Warships and can be adapted. If you don't care for how it looks, a jet engine can be adapted to work with ElectricCharge in a few minutes. Just drag & drop in the right folder and you can attach it after a reload. But ... do you want realistic behaviour or fantasy? Don't expect Juno-type thrust with solar panels if you go realistic ... unless you make your boat more solar panel than boat.

Your propellers are electric powered? I thought they were powered by steam, which probably requires something that would waste like fuel.

Yes, my props are steam powered .. but it's only a matter of changing a few words and values in the configuration file.

Oi. I don't know anything about how to manipulate a config file, much less about which values to manipulate and how to do so. May you please tell me what to do?

You pick the engine model you want to use and I'll write a config for you. Then you can compare the original config with mine, that's one of the best ways to learn things.
