Land Speed Record

First challenge I've made. Don't even have a way to reward a winner. *Leaderboards will be updated weekly.*

Goal: Highest speed achieved on the runway at KSC. Must start, from where the game starts you on the runway(no backing up into the grass), and stop on the runway, flight is not allowed. All parts present at the beginning must be attached at the finish, parachutes excluded. Manned vehicle only. Multi-stage is allowed.

Mods: SpaceY and KW Rocketry allowed, along with any that don't enhance ground based vehicles, such as Stage Recovery etc. Mechjeb can be used to get initial DeltaV figured, but must be removed for the run. 

Submit screenshot of both beginning and ending ship, along with a 3rd showing the flight results screen to prove speed. There is no time limit from launch to finish. Distance limit of 3600 meters or so, whatever the length of the runway is. I think that covers everything. I'll post my results here once I complete this again.

Every challenge needs a way to win it or to judge if someone is the best, usually this is the shortest time to complete the challenge or the least components used, or even the lowest mass or least fuel consumed.

So make sure you decide in advance how players of your challenge will be scored, it saves confusion later on."

Sorry, meant to say reward. I'll post leaderboards once a week for a few weeks. My mistake.

Here's my best attempt so far for reference.

 

 

469 Highest Speed. 469 Highest speed over land. We'll use Highest Speed Achieved for scoring purposes.

Maybe add more boosters to a plane and then just press the S key to not fly away?

Did this few weeks ago in 1.1.2. 728m/s and just manages to stop on the runway if you drive it correctly. 

Here it is:

Instructions on how to drive it are on the description texts of the pictures.

 

That took a c**pload of sepratrons carefully placed to different radii and many test "flights" to optimize accelerating and braking distances
