Pusher Type Aircraft

Recommended Posts

After a few internet searches I'm coming to the realization that there are no dedicated pusher type propellers out there. Does anyone know how I can hack my KSP install or part files to add the 'reverse thrust' feature and make it work?

Well, regarding stock parts, the Goliath (that's what the 2.5m turbofan is called right?) has a thrust reverser, and so does the Wheesley.

Regarding mod parts, most propeller packs (Firespitter parts, KAX, Retro Future) have propellers with thrust reversal.

Yep, I have a KAX pusher plane design.  Unfortunately I don't think Firespitter (which KAX, and I think ALL propeller mods rely on) has made the jump to 1.1 yet.

Yes it's because I'm running 1.1 and firespitter isn't updated. Now to go home and revert my install to 1.05!

I found this in the firespitter parts guide:

"Propellers

Found in the Propulsion tab

Pushing or pulling propellers

The propellers will pull your craft by default, unlike jet engines. This can be toggled via right click or action group, so you can run the engine in reverse for easier taxiing or landing.

You can also set the start state for the propeller inverse setting in the hangar, so your craft while always have the right set up on launch. In the Action Groups editor screen, click an engine, and a small popup window will appear to let you set the start state."
