*AHEM* The Mobile Editor...

There's a ridiculous amount of bugs in the mobile editor, and the WYSIWYG buttons are extremely  limited compared to the desktop editor. The other day I pasted a definition from Google, and I was not able to change my font back, this limiting my font to the one from what I pasted. There's a great number of things that you can do in desktop that can't be done on mobile, which make it hard to write posts the way I'd like. Erasing text is especially a problem.

I'd post an example of the bugs that occur while erasing text in a spoiler here, but there's no option for spoilers on mobile.

I'd just like to know why the mobile editor is so borked, on behalf of myself and many others who struggle to get the mobile editor to do what we tell it to do.

I think almost everyone here can agree that the mobile editor could use a lot of work.  I'm going to take it up with the IPS forums soon because I have the suite myself.

Fix formatting issue

We can change the amount of buttons in the mobile editor and include font options. The forum's theme changes with the width of the browser (try resizing it on your computer for example). CKEditor which is the software used is a well-tested piece of software. Problems often arise from limitations the mobile devices themselves can put on javascript execution for a variety of reasons.

Which buttons would you like me to add most on the mobile editor? Keeping in mind that with a limited amount of space to work with we can't include all of them.

The two I'd really use are spoilers and text size, and maybe (but less important) strikethrough.

Weird, when I look at this on desktop it's in comic sans, but on mobile is in cursive. It says it's comic sans, but it's not.

That's most likely an issue with the fonts installed on your device. The mobile site is the same as the desktop site (you can see this by narrowing a desktop browser window), fonts aren't affected by resizing.

True. Microsoft and Apple seem to have a different understanding of what ComicSans looks like...

Actually, it appears that they may be two different fonts with the same id...

Hey, the mobile editor still really needs some work. It seems impossible to remove quotes or spoilers, and repositioning them is a big struggle.

You end up being un able to reply because of the mess that's stuck in the editing box.

Even a simple delete button on them would be very helpful.

Complain to CKEditor and IPS, not us . These are known issues on their forums if you go looking, and there are multiple threads where fixes or mitigations have been promised, but it seems nothing has come of them yet. I am certainly hoping that that sort of thing is fixed though, I too often use the mobile editor.

@Tw1 It actually is possible to delete spoilers and quotes on mobile, but it's something of an art form. You have to hold the little button on the top left until a message comes up, then tap away from the message, then tap the scissors icon. It's definitely more trouble than I'd like to have to go through, though, and I agree that it should be fixed.

Scissors icon? I'm not seeing anything like that.  I just get a pop up window.

Occasionally I can get rid of it by cutting, but most of the time it refuses to be moved or selected

Yeah, you have to tap outside of the popup to make it go away, there should be a scissors icon hiding behind it.

Or... Press backspace  there was a forum update that allows you to do so.
