Mercury, despite being known for thousands of years, is the most forgettable planet in our solar system. Only two probes have ever visited it. Astronomers, observers, and news reports neglect this tiny ball of rock and iron, despite it being so interesting. This month is May, when Mercury puts on an amazing transit. So, let's show our support for the tiny planet! Like with Kerbal Space Program's Dres, do anything you can to raise awareness for Mercury. A list of things you can do is provided below.

  • Go to Mercury in RSS and SSRSS, more than any other planet.
  • View the transit on May 9th.
  • Visit Moho in Kerbal Space Program a LOT.
  • Observe, study, and photograph Mercury as much as you can!

So, fellow Dres and Mercury lovers, show your support!

I'll be watching the transit (or at least the part of it I'm not at school for) but I don't want this to turn into fuel for the Dres war. C'mon, guys, really?

If everyone went to Dres all the time, you'd be complaining about Duna, which honestly is just as boring geologically. Also...

Hey, think of Uranus and Neptune - both have been visited by only ONE probe - Voyager 2 - and only as a fly-by. And they are quite lonely back there, at the outskirts of the Solar System.

At least Uranus and Neptune have THEIR claims to fame. Uranus is the butt of everyone's solar system jokes (no pun intended :sticktongue:), and Neptune is famous for its weather, the moon Triton, and interactions with the Kuiper Belt. Mercury doesn't have any moons, is too similar to our moon for its own good, and has no weather!

Don't worry, Mercury will be all the rage in the interplanetary mining business. Think of all the iron in there! When that market opens up there'll be loads of rich people drooling over all the money they could get if they're the first to get their hands on that baked regolith to refine and sell it.
