Stock boat design, stuck at 30m/s

Hi gang!

Just wanted to know if anybody got a stock boat design that can reach more than the 30m/s i managed so far?

I'm stuck at that speed and using more powerful engine do not seems to change anything.

Anyone got a good stock boat that do better? I'd need a faster boat for an idea i have.

Tried a bigger model with the biggest jet engine.

35 m/s, i can get 43 m/s if i take out the sails, but it does not look as boaty lol.

35m/s is 68 knots so it's not exactly crawling along.

You have too much stuff underwater causing insane amounts of drag.

Fastest boats in real life and in KSP AFAIK are hydroplanes, designed to have only very few contact with water (single hull, and no insanely heavy ore ballasts). Keep it simple is the golden rule.

And as said before, 35m/s is pretty fast for a cruising boat: 68 knots, 126 kph or 78 mph compared to less than 10 knots in real life.

Yeah, i was thinking the same while trying to go faster, 30 some m/s is quite fast after all.

 

It just still take forever going anywhere (even more so that my sails do not tolerate warp at all :P), so well, maybe my idea wasn't so good or need some rethinking. lol
