2 pc's 1 ip....

hi people,

i built a pc 1 month ago.. awesome machine, but i gave it the same name as my laptop (wasn\'t on purpose).

now, i have 2 pc\'s with the same name and same ip. normally this shouldn\'t be a problem, but sharing in a homegroup and hosting is impossible, because the pc\'s just don\'t see each other.

i tried this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/25949-17-change-address-windows. but it didn\'t work

does someone know how to fix it?

Change the name, simple as that.

The change address thing actually sometimes increases the windows change IP actually can increase the IP being the same. I\'m pretty sure mine and my other computer have the exact same thing. Is it a dedicated IP?(Forget what the actual name for this is but, is the IP auto assigned or does it stay the same?) If it\'s auto assigned try disconnecting your Ethernet cable. Or if your WiFi disconnect and reconnect from the network.
