Unmoded Linux kerbal loads but the GameData does not!

I can launch and run kerbal space program on arch linux with gnome desktop manager, it actually works with games really nicley, even rust to a degree!

 

I got KSP a long time ago and don't have any steam keys for it, this may be part of the problem I am having, basically the game loads but nothing else, theres no scenarios or training missions, contracts

or otherwise as the title sugests, this is the same for science mode as it is career, I believe maybe that the KSP doesnt have permission to access some data cache or something like that?

 

Does anyone know the fix and have I been articulate enough?

 

Also any advice on obtaining a steam key?

Tried redownloading the game? It could have been a bad download or a bad zip extraction.

Hi @devonrevenge, make sure KSP is unzipped to a folder you have write permissions for, not /OPT

Also ensure you start KSP from that folder, so cd to it first, a desktop shortcut will fail if it doesn't set the working directory.

If these don't help then upload your Player.log, but bare in mind that the Unity3D engine that KSP is made with only officially supports Ubuntu, so by extension so does Squad, but usually it can be made to work.
