EVA Re-Entry

Hi all.

 

I just tried it. I run 1.1.2 and it is doable.

I had a kerbal stranded without a ship between 75 and 83 km.

 

First try I retro-braked and let him heat-up before braking. He had a temperature strip. He blew up before I ran out of fuel.

Second time I rounded the orbit close to 71 km. then retro-braked just enough to re-enter below 70 km.

Someone mentioned half a unit of fuel and 40 m/s and since burning fuel too late wasn't working I spent fuel till I had .49 unit left.

Budy got hot. He got a temperature strip but then slowed right down before reaching too-late.

His speed kept dropping all the way down but was still fast below 5 km.

At 1000m I spent the fuel "Up" as he was upright at that point.

I have a print where at 14m he his still doing 44m/s. He splashed-down and lived.
