6.4 has been neglected. It's a great and fun mod to play, but forgotten to it's RSS and RO cousins. As such, there is a lack of 6.4 challenges. Well, I'm here to post one. Here is what you have to do. Flyby Eeloo in 6.4. You of course can be the overachiever and land and/or return. Here are the rules.

Rules

Info and visual mods only. No part mods unless it is absolutely needed.

No config edits, or ALT+F12. Please do this legit.

6.4 is needed. You are going to Eeloo in 6.4, anyways.

I don't care how the hell you prove that you did it.

Have fun

Tell me what else to add for rules here.

Mission Objectives

Easy: Flyby 6.4 Eeloo with a probe. You may use gravity assists.

Intermediate: Flyby 6.4 Eeloo with a probe. No gravity assists

Medium: Orbit 6.4 Eeloo with a probe. You have the choice to use gravity assists.

Hard: Flyby and/or orbit Eeloo with at least 1 crew member.

Very Hard: Land on Eeloo with 1 crew member. You have the choice to return or not.

CAN YOU DO THIS?: Bring at least 3 crew members to the surface of Eeloo and return.

Scoreboard is managed by lowest funds per flight.

Have fun :D

1. @Cunjo Carl 620,500. Huge rocket and first submission. Completed on Very Hard.

Definitely didn't want to let this one pass by! Planted a flag Eeloo in Career Mode using my favorite EverywhereGoer ship, which rates rather nicely for this mission: ~20km/sec deltaV at ~2g, low tech and cheap.

I had a blast flying to Eeloo with the sizes turned up! It was amazing to see my deltaV melt away like nothing.  I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a screen cap, but the mission was just barely a success on the first attempt, with a last minute bail out from the ship to soak up the last 40m/s using the jet pack. If anyone else is a fan of big rockets, and looking for a worthy challenge, this one was excellent!

Wow. I didn't expect someone to do this. Great submission! How much was it @Cunjo Carl?

620,500 . Thanks for the challenge! I'm hoping to see folk with other big rockets start to fill out the other entry levels, too. It's definitely a fun application for heavy lifters. At the moment, I'm wool gathering on attempting the 'even possible' challenge level. I wonder if more boosters is the right approach?... Who am I kidding, of course it is!

I think it was 7.5-ish to LKO, 5-ish for the flyby and 5-ish for the landing (all in km/sec). I'll have a chance to check late tonight though, and I'll edit if there's any big discrepancies.

Something that surprised me was that Kerbin's atmosphere wasn't scaled up, so you just need to push up through the 'thin' 70km, and you're set for the long burn to orbit. That's pretty convenient, 'cause it means you can ignore aerodynamics on 9/10ths of your rocket.

One last note, is you should bring a book along for those transfer times. Another thing that scales up is orbit times thanks to kepler's third, so be prepared to spend 10-15 minutes twiddling your thumbs between waiting for windows and transferring. It's totally worth it, though.

I look forward to seeing your design!

Edit: Oh, and you might make a new sandbox save file for this. Many of my ships went flinging off to interstellar trajectories when I first loaded the mod.
