Settings Menu in the VAB/SPH!

Recommended Posts

This is something that I have been wanting since .24 or so- I want to be able to access the settings menu from the VAB/SPH. This is simply so I can access fullscreen mode, or game volume; maybe I have a video on the side, so I want the music down but here the rumble of my engines and know if they're running and when they're not; maybe I want the music on.

It's just annoying to have to leave the editor and go to the Space Center, set the settings and then return.

Anyone agree?

People have been mentioning it since before KSP even had a menu beyond the default unity screen resolution on-load popup.

Problem is, options are still technically hardwired the same way like that.  KSP isn't actually running yet in the menu screen.  Changing this might mean anything from rewriting the game entirely to completely changing game engines.

All I want is the ability to change volume, some might want more, but that's all I want. That shouldn't require a rewrite of the entire game just to adjust volume within the editor. I'm not asking to change the quality of the graphics or enable/disable VSync, just volume.

Is this a limitation of KSP, or a limitation of Unity? I noticed that I have to leave the fight if I want to re-map controls in Sky Rogue, which is also a Unity game. I'll have to look tonight to see if Cities:Skylines suffers from this, too.

It's nothing to do with Unity.  It's just an old UI that hasn't received a makeover in a long time.  Subnautica doesn't do it, Cities Skylines doesn't do it, Salt is worse than KSP, you can't change it's keybinding in the game at all but only on the pre-game splash screen... of course it loads in seconds so it isn't as annoying.
