Crash on Launch

I have recently re-installed KSP on steam and when I press play steam does its normal route of launching a game but then a white screen opens for a few seconds and a crash window opens up.I used to be able to run KSP fine but now it wont work.Help please :P

Hi Bemosco, the game will make an output_log.txt file in the KSP_Data folder, right click KSP in Steam and browse the local files to find it.

It should help us determine what's going on.

Not a worry, but the log is important as this has only been reported a handful of times, the exact cause is not known, one player reinstalled Windows to resolve it.

The white screen suggests that the Unity engine isn't able to start properly, at a guess I'd say it's graphics but that's just a guess without logs.

Are the logs you are talking about the output_log?

I had that problem too, but I need some specifics -

Are you running Windows 10? How much RAM do you have? How many mods do you have?

Yes, output_log is usually as (if not more) helpful than error log. And while you're at it, running a DxDiag would give a lot of information on your PC setup (hard- and software-wise), though if you don't want to give that much information, just giving your specs should be enough for a start (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS...).

Ram is 2048Mb, i know its not the minimal amount but i was able to run KSP before just fine with it, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit(6.1,build 7601), No mods installed, Procceser or is a Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU e2180 @ 2.00Ghz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz DirectX Verison is DirectX 11. 

If anything else is needed ask and i will try my best to provide. Really wanting to play KSP .

While your current specs may have worked okay for very early versions of the game, the extra content present in the latest version means that your system no longer meets the requirements. Bear in mind that your OS also needs to use RAM to run background processes, so as it stands there's practically no RAM left to run KSP.

To play the latest versions of KSP comfortably (with or without mods), I personally run 16GB of RAM and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit - this last bit is important, otherwise your OS and game won't be able to utilize the extra RAM.

In short, I'm afraid it's time you invest in a new computer with better hardware specs.
