NASA\'s Mar\'s rover Curiousity should be landing on Aug 5. I recently began reading about the complexities associated with sending a rover to Mars and it was and is truly fascinating. Here is a short 5minute video on just the broad spectrum engineering hurdles to get the rover on Mars. Hope you enjoy!

While Googling on the Mars topic and trying to find more cool links to show you guys i came across this article showing a panorama taken by Mars rover Opportunity. It contains 817 images all put together to make one awesome view. Just image if we had kept the funding for NASA where we could be today.

I wish NASA made my car. Based on those numbers I wouldn\'t have to do any maintenance on it, ever.

Actually, you would need to do a lot of maintence. Spirit after landing, suffered two weeks of problems with her programming.

You mean driving a distance of about 20 miles over 9 years before complete mechanical failure? I think even ford and Fiat could beat those numbers.... ;P

You should remember, that MER rovers expected mission time was 3 months .

I was going by actual life as a percentage of the expected life.

Can\'t wait to see this! I recently found NASA TV and watched the recent Soyuz launch live, so I\'m hoping they will have a video to show for this landing too!
