  1. That's, ironically, one of the most valid reasons. We don't have the technology(Yet) to survive indefinitely, independently away from earth. On the other hand it could be argued that most people don't have the ability to survive indefinitely, independently on earth. No deliveries of groceries from the local store and most people would die.
  2. I like liquid cooling just from a simplicity standpoint, One pump, one radiator, one block on each component. Rather than having 5-6 heat sinks and half a dozen fans... Never really works out simpler though...
  3. Because it is basically free and is about the best coolant you can get. It's a lot more expensive than water, but then, $20ish/liter is nothing in terms of overall cost. Cooking oil is super vague, there are dozens of oils that could describe, but for most the flash point is around 300°C. Any computer is likely to overheat and crash about 200° before that.
  4. Maybe you should put some lights on the ship? Or a simple red and green light on each. Green if it's empty, turns red once it's used?
  5. True, but we're not talking a time frame of "Species slightly evolved" We're talking longer than it's taken for the first life to appear and evolve billions of different species eventually one of them being humans. In the 4 billion or years before earth becomes uninhabitable life on earth might have evolved so far we wouldn't even recognize it as life.
  6. It's not so much that they had to refuel because all the fuel leaked out. The actual amount lost was relatively small. But they usually took off with significantly less than a full tank. The wear and strain on the landing gear at a full load of 80,000 lbs of fuel was much more than at the normal 45-60,000 lbs. And with a full tank the minimum controllable speed with an engine out was around 300 knots. So at speeds less than that if an engine failed they would have to cut the throttle on the remaining engine to avoid uncontrollable yaw. And at that point it would not have enough thrust to stay in the air. Meaning crash and burn. Lower take off weight means lower minimum controllable speed means less time in the crash and burn zone if the engine failed.
  7. You've done something wrong. Even if it didn't have any power it should be titled "probe" rather than debris. "Debris" is only uncontrollable objects.
  8. Interesting, The max demonstrated crosswind for the 727 is 29 knots and most airlines will set their limit lower than that.
  9. Can't remember the last time I did. I've found most mobile games to be pretty much garbage and the platform to be basically the worst possible platform for gaming.
  10. For what? *Googles* Hmmm, no, no taxes on homebrew beer or liqueur here. Unless you want to sell it then you need a license, of course.
  11. I keep idly contemplating getting a still. It's not a ridiculous amount of money, but it seems like the most likely possibilities are: I'd use it 2-3 times and then it would collect dust, or I'd become a hardcore drunk. Still, sounds like fun and so much cheaper than $40/bottle for bourbon.
  12. That's a perfectly valid reason for banning.
  13. Given this has been going on for years I'm reasonably sure they're aware of it....
  14. It's pretty good, different feel and research is really simplified though. Chrysalids were nightmare fodder in the original...In this one sectopods and chrysalids are nightmare fodder.
  15. I don't know what you mean. You can place parts without symmetry, or you can place them without symmetry, X cycles through the options. Or are you wanting to be able to, say have 4 parts placed symmetrically around a tank and be able to click on a single one and move it without moving the other 3? Rather than having to go and place each of the 4 individually?
  16. Entertaining dystopian action movie. Not earth shatteringly great, but I enjoyed it.
  17. That incident the guy was fine. Well, as fine as you can be with a bunch of bruises, doing something stupid and probably..Uhhh...Soiling yourself in front of all your coworkers. If I remember right he got stuck on a pitot tube or something in the intake and his helmet was sucked off, fodded and killed the engine. There's longer versions that show him crawling back out.
  18. No they're not! Moose are adorable. And you can sell their poop to tourists.
  19. I think the subject line on this is a bit misleading. Should be more something like, "The day an alligator wandered over and hid under my chair."
  20. I have to admit to a feeling of satisfaction seeing my word "Kerbowling" used in an official release, I hadn't noticed it had become such a common term. (I'm going to take credit for it because I hadn't seen it before coming up with it and my usage is the first I could find.)
  21. Hmm, even after clearing my cache and refreshing it's still showing... Ah, took a couple refreshes odd.
  22. If replying to his question with an example of a game is spam, then yes it is spam.
