  1. I usually swap it around though, the usual for most games with a translate RCS type system is up to go up, down to go down. While pitching is the reverse. It SOUNDS counterintuitive, but I find it feels more intuitive.
  2. I dunno, it would be pretty kerbally for them to successfully build a perpetual motion generator just because they're too dumb to know they can't. It would of course immediately run out of control and explode.
  3. I usually use a slingshot around the Mun if it ends up being somewhere close, but given the difficulty of planning the launch to the right time I don't always.
  4. American components, russian components, chinese components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!
  5. I'm skeptical of a 40% increase in performance. A lot of those programs just make stuff up, what's the proven change in performance? Since the game is usually CPU limited a simple frame rate comparison should work reasonably well. And just because you have a lot of ram used doesn't necessarily mean that you're losing performance. Windows will hold a lot of data cached in ram which can increase performance and will drop some if a program needs more. You can lose performance by changing that.
  6. They open/extend and look cool. That's it.
  7. Good, good...Now, rotate the rocket so it's pointing roughly towards the camera for more proper kerbalization.
  8. Heh, Big cinematic approach to the space station culminating with the ship slamming into the docking port too fast and exploding.
  9. True, to get the earth to cover the same relative arc as kerbin it would be much closer. Someone do the trig? I'm at work...Pretending to work so don't have time.
  10. I believe the "official" edge of the atmosphere, or at least what is considered the beginning of space is 100 km. If that's the case and the ISS is at 407 that would put its orbit at roughly 284km. Coincidentally I tend to put my stations at about 250km.
  11. I prefer to use a rocket for the top stage and a spaceplane for the return stage. Much greater cargo capacity and simplicity to get to orbit and then you have the extra control on re-entry.
  12. Time to send their next of kin some flowers and a "Sorry for your loss" card and start on the next project.
  13. Jeb, you idiot, we told you DON'T CROSS THE STREAMS!
  14. Nope, doesn't do me much good being killed and so a copy of me can appear somewhere else. Also I'd feel guilty for my poor copy having to be in New York or London. Screw that.
  15. Curing procrastination in 3 easy steps. Step 1: BRB, landing on mun...
  16. It's not unpopulated. The Kerbal is a single hive mind of sentient moss that covers most of the planet's surface. The "Kerman" are a fruiting body of this moss that that is mobile in order to spread the hive mind. These mobile fruit have an irresistable urge to travel as far as possible before dying. Hence their space program and complete lack of sense of self preservation. When they die they explode in a puff of spores(similar to a puffball mushroom). You can see this if you drop one from a ship or run into a surface hard enough. They explode in a puff.
  17. I imagine this rant sounded something like...
  18. Aaaaand, I've been given an infraction for this post about what I was banned for.
  19. You incorrectly assume that my opinion is based on lack of knowledge.
  20. Heh, For me deorbiting my spaceplane using Jeb. Long burns normally aren't a problem, set it burning, alt tab out and do something else and just check every few minutes. But when I used up all my spaceplane's fuel getting to orbit all that was left was to get my kerbal to jump out and PUSH. Can't just let it burn on its own because the plane ends up rotating due to offcenter thrust, has to be adjusted frequently. Run almost out of fuel, jump back into the cockpit and out again for a refuel... Took about 45 minutes.
  21. I was banned from a messageboard once because on the board's chat I said(I worked at a call center at the time) "I just had a call from this stupid asian woman who couldn't understand that two hours after 11pm thursday night is not 1 am thursday morning." Apparently that was sexist and racist.
  22. I think they'll screw it up. But I also don't care, it doesn't take away from the book so a bad done job is better than nothing. And anyway, I'm still a fan of B-grade movies so it can't be that bad. As long as they don't kiddify it because the main characters are mostly children. One of the characters having an overkill moko is a bad sign though.
  23. A lot of precision? Yeah. But it's not overly difficult. What I do is get out of kerbin's sphere of influence then you can just create a maneuver node and fiddle with it until you get it close. It can be really fiddly because a fraction of a meter per second can be the difference between a close pass and totally missing. Then after you've finished thrusting for that one do another manuever node about halfway there to tweak your course. Usually should be enough to get right where you want to go.
