Craft gets contorted after reload

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody. Anybody ever came across something like this? The craft is all fine and dandy, but when I reload the next day it is all contorted.

After reload:

Any idea how to fix this? Or what might cause this?

Thanks in advance

I also get this very frequently, at least 20% of the times I load a craft on my modded sandbox save, many parts get moved relative to each other. Oddly enough, it doesn't happen on my other sandbox save (on which I don't use any mod parts) or my career save. I don't know how to prevent this, but this issue somehow temporarily fixes itself during non-physical timewarp (while warping, parts move back to their proper positions, but screw up again when exiting timewarp). However, I know a workaround: load the vessel again, should fix itself.

Thank you.

How do you mean, load the vessel again? Like going out of scene, and then back by the tracking station?

For me the non-phys warp only moved the parts momentarily into their approximate original position, but never entirely perfect.

It happens on my stock insall too, IIRC.

Yes, go to space center and back. If non-physical timewarp puts parts into approximate original position, reloading the vessel may be a little less useful than for me. Also, does reverting flight (if possible) change anything for vessels loaded inflight? (Imagine: Vessel A is landed on the old airfield. You launch vessel B to come to A, and when you arrive, vessel A gets the bug said of in this thread. So, you revert flight, and arrive at the airfield again, and vessel A is no longer broken)

IMHO is related to some clipped parts that cause phantom forces on the ship. I had this issue only on ships with clipped parts.

Hmm... why do you think so? Because I have a feeling you *may* be correct. This might explain why this happened mostly on my modded save (I do lots of fighter planes on it and this involves lots of clipping. And this affects fighters most severely for some reason. And my aircraft carrier, which is almost entriely made of clipped Mk3 fuselages, is most severely affected)

Just personal experience. While most of times clipping some parts it's not so terrible, sometimes things goes in a weird direction the way the KSP vessel are calculated, in particular when reloading a ship.

Oh okay, so this gets blamed on part clipping then. Nice.

I wonder if either not more people experience this annoying bug, or people just live with it as a kind of lesser bug that is not even worth mentioning... for me it makes the game hard to play, again.

For the record, never had anything like this before 1.1.3

Have you recently passed by this craft at high relative speed within physics loading distance?

No, I could not get it back into shape by reloading so I just de-orbited that poor thing as best as I could and carried on.

After finding some other craft and even a station completely warped I had to give it a rest for now.
