The game breaker

so I caught a class E asteroid outside of kerbin's SOI and just as I was about to refuel the vessel for the orbital redirect maneuver, the resource converter malfunctioned and I don't know why.
it seems to be docking related, as the mining module was stowed in a cargobay during launch and docked to the nose in orbit. changing to space center and back to the vessel didn't fix it, eva and reboarding didn't fix it, reloading the game didn't fix it either, it seems to be a permenent issue. needless to say, the mission failed because of this bug feature.

after failing the asteroid redirect mission, I decided to launch a test vessel to see if the converter was modified without my knowledge but here it is on the runway, as normal.
ARRRRRRRG! I'm so.... sooo.... sooo PEEVED! (oh my, please excuse my language) (bonus points to whoever gets reference)

this wasn't a question, it was just a general thread to show off a failed mission, and to raise awareness of a possible new "feature"
even if this was a question, it wouldn't matter, the mission failed and cannot be repeated.
