KAS impact on performance

So I'm beginning my bases deployment using MKS-Lite, and I'm finding myself having to use quite complex solutions for linking additional base parts without using KAS.

The thing is I'm playing on a not so powerful laptop (a mid-2011 MacBook Air) so I don't want to install anything that impacts the performance so much as to make the game unplayable.

Anyone there wants to share their experiences with KAS? Does it impact the performance of the game , or is it safe to install on not so powerful computers?

KAS is pretty light weight.  The plugin is pretty efficient at what it does and even if you add KIS, the parts are pretty small and have minimal texturing.  You shouldn't have any issues with just those two mods.

It seems to me if using KAS cuts down on part count heavy solutions, it would be more than worthwhile.

Also KIS is recommended - if nothing else having this mod lets kerbals on EVA remove parts from craft which are no longer necessary.  It's very handy for when you forgot to add a KAS pipe connector, or retrofitting pre-existing base modules to use them.
