KSP without sound

Recommended Posts

This is not really a bug or issue, but maybe a way to track one down.

Is there a way to run KSP without any sound at all?

Not just muted but with sound totally turned off (without removing every sound device from my computer).

Like a switch to KSP/Unity to ignore audio?

Edit:

KSP64/win10

Yeah. Settings > Sounds > turn off.

But doesn't that turn the sound down to zero while still running the audio processing thread?

My hunch is that there's a thread de-sync, and I want to test it by removing that thread.

Say what now?

KSP has been reported to crash, even it hasn't for me until the last 4 days.

I'm trying to track down why, and since it's crashing in j.random scene and even randomly after being in the background for an hour or two.

Random crashes in software, esp with no user input, is very likely to be a thread de-sync, and since sound/audio is handed off to a thread of it's own I'd like to eliminate that.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
