No Refuel one way Stock Probe to Jool

Recommended Posts

Hi guys i just wanted to share with you a mission i did today to jool, and it was very hard for me because i am not good at interplanetary rockets but yes this was my FIRST Stock mission to jool without cheating (the other ones were using hyper-edit and infinite fuel) and i used my largest rocket and it even may be one of the largest rockets in kerbal history, and it barely made it! Also i would't recommend building building larger rockets that mine without kerbal joint reinforcement But by the way the rocket was so huge that i had to use hangar extender i don't think it was cheating but you may.

And here is the link to the Pics!

If it ain't ridiculously over-designed and loaded with stuff that goes boom, it ain't Kerbal Space Program. grin.gif

i added it now i was just preparing the pics, but big rockets are cool!

Big rockets are fun. I want a closer view of that launch stage, it looks like SRBs are literally just falling off it like wilted pine needles.

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't say OrbitalBuzzsaw's got a point - I can only imagine how much d/v was wasted forcing so much extra unnecessary tonnage into orbit, for the sake of that tiny probe. The fairing casing alone must weigh more than the probe itself!

This is awesome and so nostalgic

I remember when I sent my first successful probe out to Jool but it had a dedicated Laythe Ocean probe. (I didn't think of it at the time but it was pretty much Cassini). I was so happy when the probe landed and I could look at the ocean and the orbiter was in orbit around Jool so I could look at it's moons. I was still a proud noob and it was the humble beginnings of my interplanetary voyages.

I see the same in you with your mission, in fact our probes look somewhat similar (if you're curious I'll show you mine). I also was bad with interplanetary rockets, well bad at being efficient at least I never used launch windows. I think since it is your first interplanetary mission you will likely consider sending kerbaled missions sometime in the future. If you do please make imgur albums or youtube videos, I would love to see your space program evolve as mine did.

Good Luck :)
