Change to the NCS Adapter

Recommended Posts

well I'm bothered... sorta...

basically my beef with it is that is has a black band AND it's filled with only liquid fuel. On mk2 and mk3 parts black bands means its carrying oxidizer a black banded NCS adapter should be filled with LFO and a bandless NCS adapter should be filled with LF! :)

That's the best reasoning I've heard so far, but really I think this black band is made to match other pieces like the tails.

huh well would you look at that...

not sure why tails have bands though it doesn't change that its a deviation from color coded contents identification. also if bands=tails wouldn't that mean the NCS adapter should be very serviceable as a tail and if so wouldn't the juno engine line up with the curve of the ncs adapter?

anyway super stretched nit picking aside if the band isn't used to denote contents where would you propose a color band be on a theoretical LFO version of the NCS adapter if not where the current band is?

I didn't mean the NCS Adapter was meant to be a tail, I meant it matched with the tail. (NCS actually stands for "Nose Cone System")  They can be paired and cause the same visual separation.  Texture markings to denote any function is a silly idea.  I know it's done already but that doesn't mean it has to.  Textures are for one thing, appearances.  The detailing on this part as well as the wings and the tails prevents your craft from looking like a sheet of paper which is visually unflattering.  I do wish the detail coloring was a bit more consistent though. I know there is a mod for that, but 3 different shades of grey is a bit irritating to match.

I wouldn't mind an LFO version of this part. In which case, I too think it would fit the (weak) stock convention of using that marking to denote the difference between the LF and LFO versions.

Other than that, I'm not particularly bothered by the visial the way it is now.
