Game becomes unresponsive during most game modes

I just typed a long story about how my game is not working but the session must have timed out when I tried to post and I lost it. That's why you copy before posting. So now I'll just keep this short:

I just downloaded KSP, tried to play, and the only thing that works are the flight tutorials in training. Not construction tutorials, just ones where you are flying. Everything else and the game becomes unresponsive. It loads for a few seconds before stopping on the load screen and then does nothing. I have to force quit after that. I don't know why this is happening. I have all the graphics on their default settings, so my computer shouldn't have a hard time handling it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Computer specs: 15" MacBook Pro (Mid-2012)

Processor: 2.3GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Sorry I didn't stay up to date on this post. The issue was fixed with a reinstall of the game. Not sure what happened the first time.
